I was born and raised on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. A 12 mile long island where the average low in December is 61 and you have to travel to the "Mainland" to go to Target. My graduating class in 2008 had about 225 kids. I then ventured to the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. I met many people there who have and will continue to be my best friends (I am sure some of them are even reading this). Going to Virginia for college was "going North" to school for me. I graduated from Mary Washington with a B.S. in Psychology. When I walked across the stage at Commencement I had no idea where I was headed. I knew what I wanted to do but I was waiting to hear back from Graduate Schools. As the summer went on I came to learn that I was accepted to all 4 schools I applied to. I eventually decided to attend John Jay College of Criminal Justice to get my Master's in Forensic Psychology. John Jay is ranked as the top school in the country for what I want to do. I am very excited and cannot wait to start classes but I am nervous! Moving to NYC is no small task. I have found an apartment on the Upper West Side (I will blog about that later).

NYC is famous for the fast-paced lifestyle and attitudes of the people who live there. There are about 8 million people that live in the City, known as The Big Apple and I will soon be increasing that number. Hopefully through my blog you'll be able to share in my experiences of Graduate school and a Southern Girl moving to The Big Apple.
